Cache - French Movie review

'Cache' is a suspense movie. It is about a family who receives anonymously delivered packages that contains video surveillance of their house, scary crayon drawings. The man of the family who has a dark secret hidden in him, has troubles trying to forget his past, but the packages doesn't help. Him and his wife become more scared when they feel that their son is getting involved in the suspense.
He tries to catch up with his past, and confronts a childhood friend of his, to whom he had erred when he was a boy.

The movie has a slow onset, with a lot of still cinematography. A lot of suspense is generated when seemingly benign characters get involved in the threats that the anonymous packages posed! The music, however limited, has enough power to generate the tension that is needed to capture the audience.

The casting couldn't be better with Juliette Binoche and Daniel Auteuil as the Laurents. The characters of Majid was splendidly performed by Maurice Benichou. Even the flashback scenes were tremendously captured with usage of still camera work and realistic features of the 70s!

On the whole Cache could be a painfully slow movie to a viewer who isn't that focused on the plot and only genuine interest in metaphorical movies. A lot of colonial era influence has also been sowed on top of the plot with the concept of guilt seeping down to the seemingly innocent present generation!
